PAT Testing For Your Business And Office

The legal requirements for regular testing of electrical appliances in work places and public places have made PAT testing a new growth area for electricians over recent years.  Employers are putting forward existing staff like caretakers so they can perform PAT testing in house.

Possible shocks from electrical installations or appliances could lead to falls from heights. Electricians are not the only workers at risk, any workers using poorly installed or faulty equipment are in danger of shocks or fires. Despite this the recommended PAT testing techniques and practises are not required by law they are simply methods of best practise.

All workers including employers, employees and the self employed have a legal responsibility to take reasonable steps to help prevent danger from electrical equipment in accordance with the Electricity at Work Regulations. This therefore requires  the implementation of a systematic and regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing.

Training courses will teach you pat testing procedures and ways to use PAT testing equipment. Once training is complete the student will be able to test safely and without harm to others.  Sensitive equipmentlike some IT systems will require additional training.

A PAT testing training course will consist of learning the legislation, hazard training, user checks, visual inspections, fuses, construction of the different class portable appliances, power tools and extension leads.
